Just bought a Paragon English Tea Set…

All I know is that it is from 1939-1949 and I’ve only found one teacup online. Does anyone have any additional insights for me?

 

What sort of things would you like to know? It's pretty clearly marked so you can search for other examples, you know the dates, materials...what else are you looking for?

What a very charming pattern! Have not seen it before.

 

I wanted to know the pattern number as it was hard for me to tell. I’m also curious what the set is worth. I’m not selling it but I’ve never seen one like it.

Sure that's helpful to know. Janet gave you the pattern number from the markings so you have that now. In terms of value, it depends where you are selling it - in the UK it wouldn't be worth a lot (thier china always seems to be priced very cheaply to me!) but other countries might achieve more due to rarity value. It looks to be incomplete (only 5 cups?) so that will affect the price. I would expect the price to be roughly between 30-60 euros, depending on the venue. It's pretty, but late Art Deco / Moderne is a little out of fashion right now, though it will likely come back around again, so that will also keep the value on the lower side.

But don't worry about the $$ as long as you are enjoying it it's great to find things like this - the vintage quality is so much nicer than most modern wares. Use it, display it, enjoy it!

Just an addendum to my last message, though I didn't think Paragon was an amazing name, I can see why you might be confused looking at eBay listings for this brand - everything from 5 dollars to 600 dollars for a single cup and saucer! I left that search feeling as though I might be missing something!!

I am not an English china expert (though I've sold my fair share of tea sets!) so maybe others will have some insight on price too.

(and on the other hand, maybe it's just eBay...?)

 

The "silver" decoration is actually platinum. Seems to me it was popular from the 1920s to 1940, give or take.
