Definitely not, Suffragette colours are very distinct and easily recognizable. Someone had to see straight away what a Suffragette stood for, not have to guess if a few sort of greenish details may or may not count as a political statement. Strong women, strong colours.;)
Besides, the Suffragette movement was founded in 1903, decades after this brooch was made.

Examples of Suffragette brooches, the politically relevant colours are very distinct:

I’ve just looked at my mothers brooch, Classic C clasp, but it also has one of those hinge fittings for a safety chain. It also has a space on the reverse for a lock of hair or whatever.

I think these are earlier. Late Georgian.

The general style is more Biedermeier, which is 1840-1860. However, the elaborate frame leads me to believe it is a tad later, which is why I thought 1860-80.

    Those Suffragette brooches are gorgeous.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Did anybody ever give an opinion on what the small pinkish or purplish stones might be? Now that there is a general date for the piece, maybe somebody would have a better idea. My first thought was light-colored amethysts, but could be glass. Or something else?

    It's a gorgeous pin.

I will eventually get my gem tester back, or go see my gemologist. I'll post here when I find out what they are.
I too think it is gorgeous. It has just been sitting out in my work desk area, so I can enjoy it.

Gemologist was unable to test stones with his equipment because of the way they are set. He said the large disc might be quartz, and the small stones are not glass and might be morganite.

    :confused::(
    So probably chalcedony.
Another option would be felspar, of the moonstone variety.
    Morganite makes sense.

Thanks AJ. If I ever get my gem tester back, I'll be able to test both the stones because it has a pointed probe that can access stones that don't stick up from the setting. Of course results can be hard to interpret, so we shall see.

Ksw, on mine too! Together with a bunch of rare/-hard to find for my budget- stuff
Once thought I had found one in the wild but upon closer inspection I dont think so.
    Ah well...someday...
In my opinion a lot of dealers online also claim whatever without real knowledge.

True. Suffragette sells, so they 'squeeze in' anything vaguely like it.

    In person too.
Some of the tripe I’ve been fed by dealers is outstanding:rolleyes:
I just smile, nod and move on. Makes me even happier when the smug, self-impressed ones miss something good.

Finally got my gem tester back, but results are hard for me to interpret. Small stones test in the topaz or spinel range, and the big disc tests in the garnet/tourmaline/iolite range. Doesn't necessarily mean the stones are any of those.
