Anyone who can make it to 101 in reasonably good health & ride his Harly up to 90 years of age is definitely a rare gem. So he is definitely a find!!!

My sincere condolences.

 

He made it all the way to 101 and it sounds like was a heckuva ride! Sorry for your loss, @all_fakes .

 

My condolences @all_fakes. I lost my dad when I was 23 and my mom when I was 41. I don't imagine you will miss him any less than I have missed them but I can't help but think how blessed you and your family have been. Hold the good memories close. That's what counts.

The young lad is a showoff! Bet his sort wrote in the snow too! The bone and silver bitty thing looks like a toothpick, from before the days of dental floss.

 

Some goodies from last week...

RRPCo 1930s 9" mixing bowls, I got 2 of the first one and 1 of the watering can girl, all three are in wonderful condition, very clean.



Blue and clear glass beads purse. I am starting to polish up the frame, not silver but it polishes nicely.


A Challinor, Taylor & Co "Open Work" footed bowl circa 1884-91, 3 red juice glasses with silver colored metal stripes and a McCoy African Violet pot:


And last but not least, a William Kerr Art Nouveau silver pin and a Victorian Aesthetic period silver pin with gold accents. Made by William Clark Manton, Birmingham, 1896. Gotta love those British marks!

Not sure who or when but I would bet my bottom dollar it is Italian.

This is referred to as a perfume bottle or "pisseur de parfum" but many think it was a novelty item to be filled with water. It would have originally had a rubber bulb on top that when squeezed would look like he was peeing.

It was made in the late 19th century & according to one of my reference books does have "numerous female counterparts in collections such as the Musee International de la Parfumerie in Grasse France & the Musee de la Perfumerie Fragonard Paris / Grasse France".

Also according to my reference (The Perfume Atomizer An Object with Atmosphere by Tirza True Latimer) "the French experts attribute the pissers' origins to Germany, whereas German authorities cite France as the provenance." In other words, no one wants to take credit for them & quite frankly I can't say that I blame them.

 

This is also a perfume bottle that you could carry in your purse. It would have originally had a tiny glass stopper to seal the fragrance from leaking.

This is a much more elaborate one but it gives you an idea of what I am trying to explain.

This is one I have in my collection. This cap screws on rather than a snap closure & is also missing its stopper.

 

@all_fakes, I'm so sorry for your loss, but God Love him for making it to 101 in mostly good health and riding his 'bike'....his picture with his bike reminded me of my brother that passed at 80 in '18 but rode his '56 BMW with a side car as his balance was getting off....the side car enabled him to keep riding a bit longer!!!! Ya gotta LOVE them for their stamina!!! You have great memories, I'm sure to remember him by...blessings.....
