This is not marked, tests 14K. Do you agree Victorian?

My gem tester is out of commission so I don't have any guidance on what the clearish disc and little pink stones are. The little ones could be glass or maybe amethyst? I think the disc is probably not glass, since it is almost completely free of the edge fleabites and surface scratches I would expect with glass. My guess is white onyx. I will get them tested, but curious what you all think about the stones?

I am very happy with this pin. I suspected but was not sure it was gold when I bought it. I had to buy a large lot of mostly junk to get it, but I wasn't leaving it behind, I think is so lovely. The lot would have been quite overpriced if this had not turned out to be gold.

I’ve a brooch with very similar design elements, bought by my mama in the forties in Cameo Corner. The central plaque is more green than yours, but she reckoned chalcedony. That clasp on yours looks replaced.

Wonder if this would be a suffragette piece?

Doubt it. Too early and missing green and white.

Thanks, chalcedony seems a good possibility. Pin stem could be repaired or replaced, but does test as 14K.

Gorgeous and old as heck too! The clasp is a replacement, but even that repair could be 100 years old. What say you, Bear? Victorian or even older?

It looks like multicolored gold. I see green red and yellow. Are those in the gold, or just stained (or am I just seeing things).

THanks for pointing that out, I can see it now. Do you think parts of the brooch were enameled at one time?

Some of the leaves are a darker, slightly greenish color, and the rest yellow gold. I'm just seeing 2 colors. I see the red you are seeing in the photo, but I think that is just the way the light is hitting the recessed areas.

Does not look like it was ever enameled.

Gold can be made in different colors depending on the metals with which it is alloyed. The most common are yellow, white, red, green, and blue.

Stains can be applied, as can enamels.

I'm with Ruth on this. Magnificent, stunning and definitely older. I'd guess late 1800s. It is gorgeous with fine quality. No doubt gold.

    What a beautiful design too.

Pink, yellow, and green gold were used in Black Hills pieces. Victorian yellow gold sometimes oxidizes to pinkish, it's the copper content, so the colors fit right in. I've never seen blue gold, but have seen gray.

The green gold and white under the flower would not count?

Stunning brooch, drg. 1860-1880 imo. Using different colours gold in one piece was fashionable at the time, even earlier.
And I'm with the others, the clasp is a replacement.
Not a repair, necessarily. My mother always had C-clasps replaced with safety catches.
This model with the rounded sides is a later one, so not antique. Maybe 1960s or later. The early roll safety clasp with the flat sides dates from the late 20s.
