I realise these don't have much age, but wondered if anyone's seen anything like them anywhere? The butterfly backs are marked 375, the earrings are unmarked but test as 9ct. I found them at the antiques fair yesterday on a clearance table :)

LOL, EVERYTIME I wear earrings, I must do that with the stem!

Very beautiful! I'd wear them, too, just to mention from experience that those fasteners are not very secure, if they are not screw-backs, I used to have pretty modernist 14 K gold studs with this type of fastening and lost one of them, unfortunately. Now I have another pair I like and wear, that are screwed from the back, also pierced (not the old type screw-backs that only press the earlobe)

I am not sure what a "screw back" for a pierced earring would be?
Is it difficult to screw the backing onto such a thin gold wire behind the earlobe?

Exactly, Marie, this is what I meant! Of course, it is just my own quirk, after loosing a loved earring.

Actually the studs I wear now are almost identical with the shown in the link, but not branded, a local make.

Thanks Marie, I've never actually seen any of those to purchase, but I don't look at new joolz much anymore. Looks like the screw threads would hurt going in? I don't think I could screw the backs on, even if I could open up the holes and then try to stick them in. Fortunately, I've never bought any of these screw kind, about when did they enter the marketplace? :)

I've found a few screw-thread earrings, but they're rare here. The modern ones are all precious metal. I wear non-pierced screwbacks (not screw-clips; those things are painful.) older than I am. No holes unless I want to wear only 14k, and everything I like is vintage and mostly costume.

So, it is called screw threads, good to know.

antidiem, from personal experience, the feeling is not much different when you put screw and not screw threads into the earlobe hole. Maybe more rough, not that smooth, but as long as it is precious metal, preferably 14 ct and above, no problem. And screwing the backs is easy. At least this is my experience, having in mind that I have super sensitive skin and cannot wear earrings made of base metals, the earlobe gets sour and inflammation starts almost immediately. Tried in the past with a coupe of Swarovski crystal base metal studs I liked a lot, and that was the result.

I am in the same boat, cannot wear anything less than 14 ct gold or .900 siver.

Some people are OK when it's stainless steel, the nickel metal is the problem, but not everyone.

Oh, yes, I have friends who can wear almost anything, lucky they. I wish I could but I can't and have to cope with it.

There are times when I cannot even wear glass beads; my neck reacts to anything touching it. Even cotton.

I completely understand you! I wear bead necklaces above my blouse or pullover, not on bare skin. Cotton is ok for me, also silk, but not wool, even the softest cashmere, all wooden garments have to be put above cotton or silk blouse, without touching the skin. Not to mention any artificial fabric like nylon or similar.

No wool for me either; it hurts to touch it.

Was patch tested allergic to GOLD and I can't even wear the 18k straight stems through my ears for more than 2-3 hours. Since they close up due to lack of wear, I got tired of having to re-punch through with each wearing. I am so allergic to metals with nickle that I must paint fingernail polish on the inside of my blue jeans button or my belly will get a pocky mark! Ordinary metal is completely out on my body. I can no longer wear an 18k gold necklace. Not sure what to do with that now either?
Like Ruth, I cannot TOUCH wool much anymore, and never could wear it. Even had to wear a light weight tshirt underneath cashmere!

I patch tested allergic and also sensitive to almost all 88 of the environmental patches and to a handful of the food test taken a few years earlier.
