Hello All, I recently bought this really pretty smallish wood dresser at a yard sale this past week because I loved the unique design and thought it was gorgeous.

Got it home and tried to find anything online that would give me an idea of the design, where / when it was manufactured, etc... But I can't find anything on this....

Therefore, I reach out to the knowledge-filled experts in hopes someone might throw me a couple ideas as to what I have here.

Again, it is kinda small (30" H x 24" W x 12.5" D), but it appears to be in nice shape and the decoration is something I haven't seen before.

Any insights / info would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!!! Think this is likely Indonesian, probably based on a colonial design.

Agree. Looks to be Indonesian mid to late 20th Century. Loose use of neo-Victorian Renaissance Revival decorative elements.

Thanks Johnny... I liked the look as well. Wish it wasn't a copy tho...

The good thing, Doug, is that with the ongoing "brown furniture depression," you can get a real Victorian walnut piece for not much of anything. Sad, but true. Just keep your eyes peeled at your local antique dealer, Facebook Marketplace, Craigs List, whatever. A deal will come your way soon!

Agree with the others, late 20th century Indonesian, either made in Pasuruan, East Java, or on Madura, an island north of Pasuruan.
It isn't an exact copy. It is more a style where the Indonesians gave their own twist to Dutch furniture, and also different from antique Dutch-colonial furniture.

Indonesian furniture makers also make exact copies of historical pieces, which are used in UK costume drama series and movies.

AJ, what type of wood would this be, please...?

I would guess teak, the archetypal East Javanese wood, and most likely plantation.
But @verybrad knows much more about wood than I do, so let's wait for him.
