Featured Question on earrings and gold

These earrings are a hard resin (not glass) and clear glass stone accents.
The gold is testing at 14k unmarked however multiple times and ways with solution, vinegar etc.
I googled the following and wonder if this could be it?

Is 14K gold over resin real gold?
It is a karat gold (10K, 14K or 18K) with a copper-plated resin core. This core gives the jewelry a lightweight durability and also makes it resistant to denting.

 

sounds like gold plated.....which is not solid gold...

 

Possibly they are electroformed and resin filled.

 

I knew not solid for sure but very light and the copper plated core kind of made sense since repetitively testing 14k assume plated definitely. Non magnetic and sturdy.

Normally not. These are 100% costume. The posts are silver-colored, which is NEVER true of a yellow gold earring. At least I've never seen it in 30+ years of looking.

I am always suspicious of gold earrings where the ear wire is not gold.

when digging through a box of jewelry, I quickly eliminate gold colored earrings with silver colored posts. Guaranteed costume, from every inch of my experience

 

Gold post on a silver earring? Check it - some costume earrings had 14k posts. Gold with gold? Look it over good just in case. Gold with silver posts? Nope.
