Hi All, I picked up a bag of flatware yesterday, trying to figure out what type of forks these are. Four are marked Lion, Anchor and G, one is marked Gorham Sterling.
    #1 & 2 are 6 1/4"L, #3 is 6"L.
Replacements has #1 listed as a fish/salad fork, #2 as a salad fork and #3 as a butter-pick. Looking on-line, #3 is correct. I've never seen one like #1 before, so maybe for fish, but I thought #2 would be a fish fork
I included photo to give an idea of size, next to a 7" dinner fork and 8 1/4" serving spoon
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

#3 looks like what we used as an olive fork or a pickle fork. The big ones look like serving forks - meat forks maybe?

thanks evelyb30:) I thought a pickle fork for #3 too. I think #1 is too small for a serving fork, I added a comparison photo to give an idea of size. Replacements has a medium serving fork but that is 8 1/8"L

#1 looks like a salad fork to me - individual salad fork. #2 should be cake.

I'm too unrefined to know what the forks are used for, but CONGRATS on the awesome find!

I wasn't sure if she'd looked at the specific pattern or just the general shape. One of my favorites, Sir Christopher by Wallace, has odd salad forks as the standard. These reminded me a bit of those.

I bet she made farmer cheese cheesecakes instead of those cream cheese things. We could never duplicate my grandfather's cakes until I realized it's what he must have been taught to use over 100 years ago now. The only place I find it is in the Pas Ysroiel (sp - I can say it, but spelling it.. oy) dairy case.

This silverware has the old Gorham marks and those pieces can sometimes be way more specific. Old time silver had a utensil for everything. If you sell it on Eb, be sure to state Old Marks in your listing (and title if you have room). Some Peeps prefer or are adding to the older stuff, which can sometimes be different, the quarter inch or so or the swirly tines, whatever. After the 1950s, Gorham silver became much more standardized.

My favorite! I should make one!

Just had to look up that pattern, just gorgeous. The salad forks are truly odd, but they look like they would be very efficient in stabbing at all those slippery salad ingredients. I don't know much about Wallace sterling since I could never afford it.

Komo, I hope you have some of your mom's recipes. She sounds like quite a baker.

Ruth, i never used farmer cheese for cheesecakes. I loved farmer cheese on buttered noodles. That was part of our weekly dairy night as my parents called it. I haven't looked for farmer cheese in a long time. Next time I go to the market, I will take a look and see if they still carry it.
