    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

A local lady took advantage of the bizarrely beautiful weather (63F in Cleveland!?) to have a garage sale. I couldn't resist. Saw this little duck offered at 3 bucks. It said "McCoy USA)" on the bottom. Well now, I've been hanging out here and reading lots of current and previous threads, and... hey... McCoy?!?! I know that name, and this little guy is cute. Brought it home, Googled it. YESSSS!!! I found the very same duck planter in several places... probably 1930s... values ranging from 20-40 dollars. It's official... I'm a pottery collector! Thanks, everybody!

I have always loved that duck!
The only one I ever had was, I think, that icky green that McCoy made. or one of the other icky colors they made.
    Yellow is SO very cute!

Not an easy one to find - especially clean and undamaged.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thanks, Don. Yeah, he looks good to me.
I feel kinda guilty about getting him so cheaply. Is that normal? Will I get over it?

Very cute! Congrats on your new pastime, and good luck on curing it if it gets to that point. ;)

Oh yes, you'll get over it! The point is you didn't take advantage of the lady - you gave her exactly what she was asking. And King is right - it does tend to balance out over time. That's why anyone who gets into this business to make lots of cash is going to be sadly disappointed. You need to love (or at least appreciate) the items you're selling. The best you can realistically hope for is to sell enough to cover what you keep! :nailbiting:

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    I like that philosophy, Don.
Long before art became a business for me, it was a hobby, and I was thrilled when it began to pay for itself, I was thrilled.

    Nice start!

    Nice piece!

Look for the McCoy stretch animals. VERY Deco. They can be a real challenge ;).
