    Maybe,but in this case it’s still a different ball game if they have experts/dealers on speed dial to come and view or send pictures to of whatever they even think might be of some value.Anyway if it’s all for charity then good for them,doing a proper job and getting maximum value

    But you have to let it go

    Was in a charity shop the other day, and a lady came out from the back with a modern Lord of the rings trilogy (used)

    She said to the boss it's £35 pounds on Amazon, the boss said well put it out for £25

    When used it would be about pennies

    This is some of the maritime stuff I got from the BDSM guys house a couple of weeks ago, there is still lots to go through,I've got maritime barometers and clocks still unsorted.

    Most of it was highly polished brass used as display.
    This is a French brass propeller for a small craft.


    Over €1200 new.

    This is a 4 blade retractable solid brass anchor / grapple hook, it weighs around 20lbs /9 kilos.

    I've no idea of the maker or where it is from.

    Someone I know who is into sailing said its an expensive tasty piece of kit.

    Davey-Great anchor ! Funny coincidence,I just found a Thrift nautical piece yesterday-I beleive it's called an oak 'Sailor's Fid'.I think it's used to work on big ship ropes,12" long.It's like a big crochet needle.

    Wish my brain did that more often.Could've been nick-named a 'Fid' as in 'fiddlin' with something.Could be off by a mile.
    PS-If you blow-up the pics,you'll see lathe scratches in the wood.
    Mind blower-"The earliest evidence of a lathe dates back to Ancient Egypt around 1300 BC." I better contribute to Wiki one of these days !
