    Thanks!
I browsed malachite work...Colours look similar although more milky. Colours on the ashtray are distinctive and luminous. As regarding to workmanship it reminds me more of some crystal ashtrays I've seen.

That Cambridge "marble" one that cxgirl mentioned with her link might be a good place to start. Just browsing their museum was a delight!

Thanks, OBB, for the confirmation on "mould blown."

So you're not in the US, Mak?

Ah, in that case, I'd think it's Bohemian. Has the look.

I'm going to chime in hear with my first thought, also. Bohemian. BUT, maybe not.
It could be correct on the Slag Glass. I think poured into a mould. Can you find any hint of two or more seams? Or is that maybe a pontil in the center?
If there is a pontil a search word might be "marble" rather than slag.

Slag glass is created by mixing different colors right in the oven. That's the swirl designs as shown on the top. And 99% of the time it is poured, not blown.
The bottom does throw me a bit. The coloring seems very controlled, which reminds me of Murano.
Marbled, marvered, stippled, dappled are used by many but I don't think apply here. But may be useful in searching.

    Hi,
Those crystal ashtrays were very popular in the 1960s. I was a smoker and three or four of them. Very heavy and not expensive.

Yes, the molten glass of different colors do bunch together and will be throughout the whole piece that way.

I'm too old to recall, and might lose my "place" if I start checking, so tell me right or wrong - Slovenia qualifies as Bohemian? Yes.

Also have to return a phone call in about 5 minutes. So this post will be quick.

Pressed glass is the European equivalent of what I call "from a mould." Same with "syrup and cream" slag glass, which I happen to like. Molten glass in the bottom mould and PRESS the top mould down on it.

As for your links above. Sounds like you are in Geiselberger's material. NO WAY would I ever question him, BUT, it's also a bit confusing because of the copy and paste as below.

Abb. 2011-2/097 Footed Bowl with Pigeons as Handles STS Abel, Yugoslavia, about 1936 and after 1948 … http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/… item 220710982373 (2011-05) aus www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,40491.0.html

That's a direct copy and paste from eBay, which would not normally be in one of his reports/statements/publications. So I'm going to say that whole report needs verification.

Back for a quick post. My computer is acting up again. Can't link you to a video showing how to MARVEL while glass blowing. That's often used to describe how you get the colors mixed with similar results in "gathering" glass into a mould. Just search MARVEL IN GLASS BLOWING. I've never witnessed that in person but have seen several in mould making.

I was reminded that slag glass is also called "end of day." That's because when the workmen were finished with the regular work they took leftover colors from different furnaces and put them all into one furnace. NOT MIXED or stirred, just poured in. Some think that's how slag glass was started.

Here's one of Imperials with similar to yours, Mak. Don't take that price as realistic, though. I think that seller is reaching very high.

When I get younger - - I may be able to decipher the picture of the base above. I guess my depth perception with only two dimensions quit working.

I dont really care about its value. My knowledge of glass and glass making is minimal at this point, but currently expanding.
I like to have around thigs I like to look at, I do not collect anything in particular, though I always had soft for glass and ceramics in all forms

I havent got to devoting enough time to try to decipher the damaged print till now. I managed to read everything visible and it says basically what you told
me about end of days glass making process. There are 7 more words I couldnt connect together to make sense, something regarding milk...
