That wasn't true when I was selling them. Over time I had half a dozen Canadian McDonald's mugs and they never got any interest. And that was back when shipping was sane and American McDonald's mugs were selling for big bucks. (Remember those days?)

I do have fond memories of those days.
I had the USA McDonalds mug which I sold. I may even have another stashed away somewhere.
My best fire king mug was Snoopy as the Red Baron. That sold nicely tho the buyer was a nut case after he got it. It worked out in the end, but I spent more time with that buyer messaging than any other.

Your imari kinda looking thing is Japanese and made in the 1980s. I have some similar pieces that I was given as a wedding gift. Good quality decorator pieces. (I should get mine out, but they're somewhere in the basement...)

I'll have to get pictures up if I ever get that far. Found an antique of the past for $1 - a pearlware jelly mold. Talk about moldy oldies! But $1 for something pushing 200 if it's not there already..aww heck, I knew too many antique collectors in childhood.

Whilst walking the dog at the beach yesterday I saw a large amount of black rocks among seaweed.

I put a few in my pocket hoping they might be Jet.

Just tested them and they are Jet.

Wish I had taken a sack with me

We will go again next week but I doubt they will still be there.
The shoreline looks different everytime we go due to severe coastal erosion.
There are concrete WWII defence pill boxes that were on land that are now half a mile out to sea.
Last time we went the beach was all sand, this time it was pebbles, rocks and boulders.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

So, learning something new here!!!! From what I just read.....Jet stone is essentially petrified wood????? And how the heck does one check Jet??? Does it have value??? Looks like what we've picked up as pieces of what we've thought was coal, around the Block Island beaches in past years.......and aside from jewelry, it's used for "healing properties"????? At least that's what I'm reading.......please correct me if I'm wrong????!!!! In which case I won't throw away my few Vintage Jet buttons I have!!!!:happy:

    Its used for jewellry.
Drag a piece across a sheet of white printer paper and it should leave a brown mark.

Some of the 'Whitby Jet' seems to have value, haven't investigated it in depth though-just a quick price review.
Wasn't Jet used in some Mourning Jewelry ?

Whitby Jet sells on eBay.uk for around £3 ($3.70) a gram, the bigger the chunk the more it realises.

I have a couple of pieces that weigh over 2.5 kilos.

My Jet is from the same coastline as Whitby, its an hour away by car.
