It’s getting tougher to find really great playing copies of their original LP’s too.

I found these in my vinyl travels through time. Both are in excellent playing condition.

The Shangri-Las/Leader Of The Pack (Red Bird Records first pressing 1965)

The Shangri-Las/I Can Never Go Home Anymore (Very Rare 1966 Red Bird Records first pressing)

That's hilarious. I only know the ones that made it to top 40 radio, like Leader of the Pack (spoofed later with a song called Leader of the Laundromat).

This is the version of I'm Blue I know:

The Ikettes, the originals did it best! The Shangri-Las did a good version in their own right though.

Lol funny, I remember Leader Of The Laundromat, some older cousins had it on a compilation record, it was either called Funky Favourites or Tasty Tunes, something like that, anyways I was young, but I vaguely remember us all as kids jumping around to the songs on that record.

I think I've still got the single of Jolly Green Giant.

That’s a 1964 song put out by The Kingsmen right?

@Bronwen The Shangri-Las do probably one of cutest versions of Twist & Shout, this the 1964 live first pressing I have. Mary Weiss usually did the lead vocals on most Shangs songs. But her sister Betty (The fourth Shangri-La), did the lead on this and a few other tracks. Betty temporarily dropped out of the group because she was pregnant (she had a baby girl).

Not a great sounding You Tube Vid, but you get the point.

That's it, one of a number of silly, fun songs of the 60s.

Yummy Yummy Yummy is another that comes to my mind, but because it was one of the songs on that funny record I mentioned earlier in the thread. And yes, I agree, they were fun good natured songs!
