I picked this little ginger jar up today for a couple of quid. Antique I think. I found a similar one a couple of years back with warriors on it. This one seems to be a lot more peaceful. 20230316_180636.jpg 20230316_180642.jpg 20230316_180646.jpg 20230316_180655.jpg 20230316_180715.jpg 20230316_180700.jpg

    lovely.......great colours .... & crisp designs !!!

normally , I run from the all over crazing......but here...old or new.....I'd make an exception !!!
Specially for only a couple of squid !!!! :playful::playful::playful:

Yes. Forced crazing seems to be used a lot in modern pieces to create a false sense of age. It always seems to be present in this type of jar though with the brown mark on the base. Not sure if it was intended by the manufacturers or if it was just an issue with the glaze they used.

I'm sure it was intentional, but not with the intention to fake, just for the look.

I agree with Aj. The intention was the look. i sold a set of Tiffany cats that were crazed like that but had the modern label so no intention of fake.

The crazing is intentional, and I think it's 20th c and not antique, but certainly vintage. I think that I see some discolouration from tape maybe that held the lid to the jar.
