The pictures are a bit small but any old safe is worth saving. Is it free standing or built in?

Even if all you could save is the door and surround, it would be worth saving. An architectural salvage company would jump at the opportunity to procure this.

    better pics
The door is incredibly robust. There are also 2 steel, inner doors that swing in to open. not sure what these were designed for. After swinging the door open and shut a few times, I would say the door alone has to be pushing 700 pounds or more. The frame is built like the Titanic, although could probably take an iceberg hit without cracking open.

the damon safe and iron works company manufactured safes and vaults in cambridge in the late eighteen and early nineteen hundreds. the inner doors of this vault would be used during the daytime to prevent the user from having to open and close the heavy main door all day long. is this vault still there? i would love to know if it's possible to still see this.

Looking at the hinges I'm guessing the door itself doesn't weigh more than a few hundred pounds. Door and frame would be nice to have.
