I know it's a loooong shot ... but you guys and gals have managed to decipher some really scribbley siggys in the past ....

Also wondering what to call this style ... modernist?

I think they're sterling with either gold or gold filled earwires. The pearls are real. Looks as if a lot of work was put into making them.

I've taken a few shots of each earring because the first name (word? initials?) look different on each ... the second name, although unreadable, looks the same on both ... I'm reading the third pair of squiggles as "s s" as in sterling silver - could be wrong though.

the earrings .... body of them about 1 1/4" long

seriously....!! to do all that nice work and the sign illegibly with an electric pencil...
It looks like students work from an art college.

Good luck with that siggy.....it's a mess ! :wacky:

Yes, it could be student work (there are several art schools in the area - plus regular schools that offer jewelry-making courses) ... which means I'll most likely never find out who it is :( Thanks for mentioning it though :)

In the artists defense, the sig is between 1/32nd and 1/16th of an inch tall ... I've never used one of those pens ... maybe very small and neat is hard to do?

Thank you! Yes ... They do scream 80's and 90's ... probably why I was attracted to them - they bring back fond memories .....

I knew they weren't antique (sorry for not stating that - it's just the folks here are so darned talented at figuring stuff out )

Rubin's a possibility that I haven't yet tried - there does seem to be an "i" (or some dotted letter) in the first name. Thanks again! :) I'll see what I can find.

As in saying: "I'm feeling sort of Putnam Wugins-ish this morning? Pass me a warm root beer please." ;)

Unearthing this old thread because I think I've found the artist who made these! These look very much like the work of Patricia Madeja - and from the few examples I've found of her signature, that looks similar as well. I've sent an email to her for confirmation ... just waiting to hear back.
Some of her pieces are shown here:

Whoa doggies -- look at the prices.

Goodness gracious, Quirkygirl, your "given" name ought to be either "Persistence" or "Patience." ;)

    Heehee
These were too interesting and well-made to be sold as just some 'unknown artisan' earrings ... not to mention that I got to wear them whenever I wanted to while they were in the research phase ;)

Beautiful earrings and wonderful research, quirky.
Looks like she does either silver or gold, so if these are hers, they are probably gold. I wouldn't have minded keeping them and wearing them all this time either.:)
By the way, I read Putin as a first name....:wideyed::bag:

Earring no. 1 - the first name reads 'Tom' to my eyes.

Thank you! I was actually searching to find the maker of a different pair of signed earrings when I stumbled upon her work ... more luck than skill, honestly.
The earrings are mainly sterling, only the ear wire and catch are 14K.

    Congratulations!
I thought they would be, signed by design, as they say. Are you going to keep them?

    Thanks!
    Hmmmm ... That's a good question :)
Initially bought them to flip them - They're somewhat low-key and I'm more of a Tabra girl, for earrings. But .... I have to admit - these don't look half bad on me :D:rolleyes:. Definitely going to have to wear them a few more time before I decide.
