Ginger Jar Age?

    Hello any thoughts on the age and mark located on the base of this item will be appreciated IMG_5096.JPG IMG_5094.JPG IMG_5097.JPG

    Hi! Your image of the mark is upside down. And it would be best for others' viewing for you to edit your post to change the thumbnail size images to Full Size Image.

    Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi, like I know what that means. Look on gotheborg.com, click Chinese marks on the left menu.

    Late 20th century, in my opinion. Note the 'gunge' on the base, in attempt to artificially 'age' the jar.

    Not only that, but they also added black 'enamel' to make it look like rare famille noir porcelain, which is done occasionally. You can see that the black is matte and crudely applied, covering parts of the leaves.
    The original enamels on the flowers are much more delicate and very pretty, and I am sure it started out as a lovely jar.

    So I'd say, probably mid 20th century, and made to look like rare famille noir as well as 'antiqued' with dirt a few decades later.

    Virtually all of the entries of this and related marks in Gotheborg are noted as 20th century - many in the 2nd half.
