The Painting is roughly 24" x 36" and the signature is in bottom right corner. We know nothing else about the oil painting

My guess - someone who watched a lot of Bob Ross - or perhaps a "factory" decor type painting.

Sorry - I know nothing helpful, but to me this looks like a Bob Ross (admittedly on one of his better/"happier" days). I realize it is not by Ross, but the technique and subject matter remind me of his work.

That was my first thought too - all those "happy trees."

I think this pre-dates Mr. Ross and his followers.

But I agree with the sentiment. I choose 'decor item.'

Is that a skull in the middle of the waterfall?

I'm sorry to be teasing about this painting which you admire. My eyes just keep coming back to this rock.

I too do not mean to demean the painting. Forgive me if I offended you or your taste. I think I was complimenting the piece by suggesting it was just a bit better than Ross's usual work -possibly a two doobie painting instead of a single?

Oh no you're both fine none offense taken, I picked up the painting for 15 dollars and didn't know anything about it.

Your landscape painting features an Alpine scene which is quite a common subject for decorative paintings. (If you do a Google image search for "vintage painting" and "Alpine scene" lots of similar works will come up. One example is below.) Given its impressive size, it was probably a department store purchase to compliment someone's living room decor. This type of painting doesn't have great monetary value and, more often than not, the name of the painter isn't important. It dates to the 20th century and most likely post-World War II.

I worked in a shop that sold factory paintings. No offense intended, but it has all the classic earmarks of that genre.
