    Hi Antiquers,
I have a 1978 Renaiassance Winterling Bavaria Germany China Service of 4 consisting of
    4 Dinner Plates
    4 Cups
    4 Saucers
    4 Bread & Butter Plates

I have the original box that has 3 boxes in it. The 4 cups box has been opened and also has the 4 saucers with card board over top for the 4 cups and has been opened. However the other 2 boxes of 4 dinner plates and 4 bread & Butter plates are still taped shut from the manufacturing. Should I open them to check condition and to take pictures and measurements to sale them or should I not tear through the manufacturer's tape because it may devalue the price by opening them. Thank you for your assistance in this request. Rob

Hi, Rob! Just my opinion but... You should open them, firstly to confirm that they're in saleable condition and secondly to take measurements and good quality photographs. The manufacturer's tape itself doesn't add value. You'll still be able to advertise them as NOS or some such even with open boxes. Others may have differing opinions.

MHO - check condition. Doubt that sealed cardboard box will add to the value.

There's a typo in your spelling of Renaissance, by way. You'll want to watch for that when you write your listing to make sure your dishes get the views they deserve.

Unfortunately, I went to look at the spelling on the box so that I would not spell it wrong for this thread. Obviously, it did not work. Rob
