Met Katherine Wallach (daughter of Eli) & saw her work for the first time this past weekend. Of course spotted the cameos first & asked if they were Amedeo. With good humor she told me no, they were hers (she designs & has cut in Italy) & that she was really irked with him, feeling he steals her ideas. Her cameos are a bit, uh, transgressive. Check out other work too:

Henry Ford did this, then turned it into a museum. When they had a fire many years ago, they reassured the public that there was very little loss: they had duplicates & triplicates of most things in storage.

I could so use one of these, customized for cameos. Is it essentially a sheet music cabinet with inserts for coins?

She said that she wanted anatomical accuracy, so told young man who cuts the cameos for her to get his out & use it for a model. :wideyed::eek::wacky:

She also has a special attraction to the smiles of people who have a gap between their top front teeth. She told me who a couple of them were but immediately forgot.

Todays knick knacks from a local estate sale:

A small half inch brooch. A little bit of green rust but a good cleaning will take care of it. I’m thinking it’s molded glass. 9B6A50F5-C15A-4D42-9FA2-B3C5CB202093.jpeg 520286E9-2DF2-44B5-BFCA-2316BEBFB9B8.jpeg

A small rose that looks a bunch like a find I had last weekend of rose clip earrings. Figured I could rig this to go on a necklace. EBF725D1-75E5-4DF6-ACC1-FBD6BA639E0E.jpeg 3C291126-7011-48EA-BA95-B98F25D363B7.jpeg

A small basic chain which will fix my brass perfume bottle from a few weeks ago. A93FB175-5DDB-494E-A95A-C310C5D7310B.jpeg 529C486D-6233-43D3-AA31-D84F55FA5C3A.jpeg

This mystery pendant, tested positive for 18kt setting and a mark I can’t make out but will post in the jewelry forum.

And this pearl ring that looks super modern to me, two marks in the band. FAA95748-9DB5-436D-BB46-D1CF9F07AE82.jpeg One saying MEX 22k and the other I can’t make out, also going to ask in the jewelry forum.

Not a massive haul but spent $1.65 on everything so I feel accomplished and justified on the gas and time spent.

    Almost forgot this guy: 26E0A617-02C7-4442-8C50-0C992A403B08.jpeg B083844D-4C3F-4D65-B84D-28214A1267BE.jpeg 8A260F25-6308-47E5-A0D8-F45752BEEB7E.jpeg CF356F8E-E33E-4F21-B929-5BF75C5FD341.jpeg 309B7E70-24D2-49A4-83C5-20D51FDC77A4.jpeg

I think the case is original, spoons fit exactly right. They are marked sterling and from Denmark. Four of them are headed to the scrap pile, but the rest are beautiful if not slightly worn. Paid $60 for the lot.

I can't, by the way, find the brooch maker, so if anyone has thoughts.....

Bear, I am in love with all of your finds..... I have a pearl clasp like that missing its little pearl, a repair project. The Yves Saint Laurent bracelet is fabulous!

BMRT, did you test that emerald cut stone?

I’m dying with that YSL bracelet. If I found something like that rest assured they would bury me wearing it.

I did run my little electric measuring thing on it. Doesn’t test positive for diamond so who knows what it is.
