Got this little guy of fbmp a year or two ago. Since there was no city code it was going to take a bit extra work to ID. As such I didn’t get around to it right away. Was just sitting and my gaze settled on it and I finally got to digging. I didn’t realize it was as old as it possibly is. The duty mark appears to be either George III or George IV. Looks more like George III with possible 1816 London date code? Makers mark looks like ID maybe? The two documented makers with those initials at that time (at least on 925-1000 site) had a • between initials. Mine doesn’t seem to. Would love some help figuring this one out.

The date letter "b" is 1817. ID is probably John Douglas.

Ah, The picture did not show the letter well. I read as a B and not lower case.

My B! When you post at 3am as you’re falling asleep more than just forgetting to enlarge the photos happens. I mistook 1817 for 1816 and see at least one spelling error. Oddly sometime when I go to edit my posts the edit option isn’t present. I’m clearly signed in but no edit option available in this post for me. I don’t get that.

Turns out I did read it incorrectly, just in a different way! I’ll save that link. Thanks

the “b” is scuffed in addition to it being at the edge of my loupe. Little hard to see clearly when you combine those factors and poor lighting.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The Edit link disappears after a period of time. I'm not sure how many hours, though.

I had no idea there was an expiration. Every once in a while I go to correct something and can’t. I always wondered why but never tried out the trusty addition of 2+2.
