    Japanese - the mark need to turn 90 degrees to the right to be in the readable orientation.

    Based on the marks to the right side (thanks for re-orienting the pic, INH!) this bowl is in the Kutani family of marks. This link goes straight to the Kutani section of a good reference site. You can scroll through the examples to see if you can find a match to either the marks or an item with similar decoration.
