Belatedly introducing myself, was too focussed on the technicalities on how to post etc. and missed this bit.. Bit like me in life. When himself and I meet with others I am so glad he can fill me in on all I missed....

    Most importantly I am Irish!

Always loved beauty and sometimes really ugly (pity I think) Been poor most of my life but I'm not now YYEEEEEAAAAAHHHH.

So, started buying beauty...... America to blame here.........glorious Carnival glass.

Next hobby was divinely earthy, in your face, West German pottery.

Since then I have bought everytning from antique fishing rods to enormous steampunk creations?........you see where I am going......love everything but bit of a butterfly......know a little about a lot.

So be patient when I get it wrong as I will do but I am in there trying eh?

More than anything else I love to have a laugh and I have been doing little else here for the last few days.

I am however an expert on the cluster B personality disorders...don't ask.

Great to be here, loving it altogether

Very familiar, I have come across and grew up with too many people with a narcissistic personality disorder. Some of the other disorders are pretty familiar as well. Ah well, that's life.....

Please, allow me to add my welcome to our little colony of congenial connoisseurs, where knowledge and humor are equally valued, where we gather within a sense of community that enfolds us in a warm embrace of shared interest and common goals. Where everyone is valued for their contribution, where information and interests are freely shared. It is the home of the mildly interested and the deeply committed, the amateur and the professional. A place to garner swift resolves to pressing dilemmas or to rest and sip a cup of restorative while recovering from a restive and draining world. I could laud the persons here and heap praise upon their kind and knowledgeable souls, but I shall forego any further glorification of the home of my essence, and simply state, with wholehearted emotion that this place is pretty kickass and we're glad you joined us!

I am humbled by your acceptance and honored by your admiration................and now, since that little missive was written before my second cup of caffeine and second serving of nicotine (but definitely AFTER my morning drugs), I shall refortify myself......................if I can find my way to the kitchen. I keep saying that I will move the coffee maker to the bar, as its closer to my desk, but every time I locate the kitchen I am so glad I found it and so proud of myself that I presume it will be as simple the next time....................as with my belief that Dame Helen Mirren will magically appear on the threshold of my bedroom some dark and starry night, I appear to be wrong..........................

Welcome Carolgal, I do have a couple of questions for you. . .

Are you SURE your are Irish & not Canadian?

Or should the Canadians 'blame' the Irish for ending sentences with 'eh?' ?:confused:

She could be from where I am, the eastern part of Dutch Brabant. They don't understand you if you don't throw in an eh at the beginning of a sentence (high pitch) and another eh at the end. When a conversation has already started you can suffice with just the one at the end eh.

How very dare you! About the one thing I can have any security about is that I am Irish although born in UK. Most probably derived from the Brits, came here and then over there. God! Another claim to fame for them!!!

OK now a question for both Carolgal AND AJ - I 'hear' ya both with the "eh?", but do you also use it in your writing? ;););)

Spent several days in Ireland, back in 2001, I don't remember hearing 'eh' at all. Perhaps I was just awe-struck over the beauty of the country and wasn't paying attention.
