Anyone Know What Kind of Chain This Is?

I had posted this chain previously with a gold cross, but I didn't have very good closeups of the chain itself. I was wondering if anyone could put a name to it. Thanks!

Thanks! It looks to me like it should be a double rolo chain, but when I look that up, it doesn't look like I think it should. Maybe I'll just have to settle for "fancy" chain in the listing; I was hoping someone else might know what type it was before I do that.

 

some type of vintage rope chain....I would think..

@tie.dye.cat, I hope you don't mind....I took a section of your chain....and did a Google Lens search.....they came up with NOTHING JUST like it that I could find... maybe @kyratango might have an idea.....here's the image piece I used if it's of any help to you.....and yes, double links....one flat and one round.....at least I think JUST double!!! Sometimes I look and think triple.......as the flat seems to go in two orientations!

Does every link join four other links? If so, it is a Prince of Wales chain, five interlinking links.

 

How did I not notice that one was flat and one was round? Thank you for pointing that out.

I actually did find an exact match when I first looked up "antique fancy chain", but the link led me to a 1st dibs listing that just called it a "fancy" chain, so it wasn't any help.

 

That's interesting. Every time I look up double rolo, I get two links side by side linking to two more links side by side.

 

Thanks AJ! A quick google makes me think it's not that (though googling it didn't give me a whole lot to look at), but I'll have to whip out the loupe to be sure. I learned a new term today; I've never heard of Prince of Wales chain.
