    Hello Folks,

I have an old statue I am attempting to learn the history, manufacturer and estimated value. There is only one marking / Signature on the statue best I can tell. I have taken a couple different photos of the marking. I would appreciate an help in identifying the marking. Thank you,

    Riley

THe picture is more or less just a silhouette. Never shoot a picture towards a bright light or brighter area.

    What is the material?

If it is patinated spelter it is possibly one of a pair of figures (not statues) from a clock garniture.

A scratch made under the base would help identify the material. Also a magnet would identify it as iron.

Don't know what mark is, perhaps a foundry mark for internal control, meaningless to anyone except a few insiders. This was apparently one of a pair, Don Juan and Don Cesar. Yours has been painted by someone so take a chunk off the value for that. Here's the pair, sorry no price this page.

Now you can find another one or two quicker.

I'm guessing your painted one might bring $100-300 at auction but that's truly a roll of the dice, so much depends on auction circumstances, and many potential buyers will be turned off by the ugly green paint, if that's what it is.

Possibly we could remember the 20th C with figures of Don Corleone and Don aldDuck.
