    Hi,
Do you think this is Edward VIII? He looks quite young, so when he was Prince of Wales
    The frame is 25"x 18"

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It does look like him. I'd say "yes."

    Thanks folks.
I do, but sometimes I'm not sure if what I see is what others see - best to double check sometimes:)

You can't see the medal ribbons but you can bet it's stuff his dad gave him.

Royals and regiments usually get the honorary title of Colonel in Chief. He does not appear to wearing a FM's uniform.

Here is Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David, Prince of Wales - the future Edward VIII (called David by his family) and died as the Duke of Windsor - in his Welsh Guard's Colonel's uniform. The picture was presumably given to Field Marshall Viscount Byng in 1923 when Byng was the Governor General of Canada on a visit . The uniform looks identical to your pic with the exception of the number of rows of pins/badges on his chest.

Edward visited Canada several times when he was Prince of Wales. In 1923 he did visited Pekiskoa, Alberta, Canada where he, the Prince, had a ranch. He also visited other towns. Other visits were in 1919, 1924, 1927. Scroll down to 1919:
