I have a gold basketweave compact with a hallmark that I have not been able to identify. I realize that it is not "jewelry" but a jeweler must have made it. It truly is woven gold as the top and bottom are somewhat flexible. I have checked multiple references with no success. I sincerely hope that someone may recognize this hallmark.
    Thanks for any input,
    Keith

Sorry, but why can I not upload any images of the compact hallmark?

Not to worry. Lots of new members have difficulty posting photographs the first time. Someone will be along shortly with instructions.

@Sagalassos Is it telling you the file is too big? Photos taken with, and then posted by, phone are usually over the size limit. Some recommend sending the file to yourself by email so it compresses the file size.

Hi @Sagalassos and WELCOME to ANTIQUERS!! Here are some suggestions to help you get started if you are dealing with over sized images on a phone:

For Future reference, when posting images:

Try emailing them to yourself as "medium" size, they should then be under 1 MB!

Each image MUST be UNDER 1 MB....
There are instructions on site here on how to reduce the size of your image, if that is the problem......you are allowed up to 10 images per post!!! Here are some links to the instructions:

    If on the computer:
    https://www.antiquers.com/threads/posting-a-thread-and-uploading-pictures.15990/

    If on an iPhone:
    https://www.antiquers.com/threads/resizing-photos-on-i-phone.35097/

And if on an Android phone:
    https://www.antiquers.com/threads/using-an-android-phone-for-pics-on-antiquers.41709/

As an added note, when you have your photos LISTED, BUT BEFORE you hit POST, please click on the wording that says to "POST EVERY IMAGE FULL SIZE" !! That way, we're not clicking on little thumbnails, but get to see all of the images full sized!! Thanks! Remember, it takes a bit for MOST new members to get the hang of it, but it's really quite simple once you get used to it!!!" If you STILL need help, don't hesitate to keep asking!!! We're here to help!!!!:happy::) P.S. You might want to save this for future reference until you get the hang of it.......

Thank you so much for your replies (especially Aquitane) who, I hope, has helped me to post these photos of this gold compact. I have checked what available sources I could find but nothing seems to fit this hallmark. I t appears as though it would be so simple to identify but, oh well......
    Thanks for any input.

May we see the inside? Does it contain powder? Is it loose or in a refill pan? Is there a puff? If so, may we see it?

Kinda redefines the term NOS, doesn't it? Beautiful photography. Seller was unable to identify maker as well.

Seller is unable to identify a whole lot of things. I delved a bit into other listings. Posted a particularly egregious one to Rants & Raves.

Thanks for your research Debra. This is the compact which was listed by The Relux. I purchased it for slightly over what I calculated the price of gold to be. Little did I realize that the "powder" is very compact and weighed substantially more then I thought. Never the less, I still appreciate the fine craftsmanship that went into the compact's construction. I am still hoping that somebody can decipher that hallmark. compact 14kt gold basketweave #6.jpg compact 14kt gold basketweave #4.JPG

Thank you for this information. It would have been helpful to have had it in your initial post.

Sorry, I did not think that the provenance was a factor in determining the maker's mark. I just took the additional photos after you requested them. What do you think about the mark? Is it a CC or a CG or a GG?

If it's not an easy to find the mark listed then tracking down similar pieces and noting their research is the next thing. The more information we have on where an item was aquired, the better. Keeps us from wasting time in a dead end.
