This was found on the inner cover of a copy of Philip Gibbs book, No price for freedom.
DMD stands for Davies, Middleton & Davies.

Who is the Polish person who was Chairman of the Union of Poles in Wales?

I have a feeling that the Union of Poles in Wales was probably a few blokes in a pub in Bangor.

Not sure how many Poles settled in Wales post war, obviously less than in England but still many thousands. I'm guessing that the VC stands for vice consul.

Now don't ask WHERE or WHY, but recently I was reading about a Polish settlement camp in England near Blockley. Though there were medical facilities (it was a former military hospital??) those with serious illness were sent to a Polish hospital in north Wales, where the staff were displaced Poles. I imagine that there would have been a goodly population.

As a note of interest, some of the camps were in operation through the early 1960s, and still exist as retirement villages, etc.

I bet the Polish Embassy in London has records of who the Vice Consuls were. No Polish shops near you? I've several friends who could probably decode that!
