I got this brooch recently but I’m not sure what flower it’s deplicting. Can anyone tell me what it is? I thought thistle but it didn’t match up to the pictures of the thistles I looked at online.

For the curious, this is done in glass and the image is on the back. I don’t know what the frame is made of but I bought it because it was adorable and a very good price. 77BDCB76-3D7F-482D-B576-10067B3B8781.jpeg 02406AFF-2A1D-4046-B606-7046B978A25F.jpeg

    That's pretty!!
Maybe it's a stylized Four O'Clock flower (Mirabilis jalapa).
    But I'm thinking it's just "a flower".

Petunia. Leaves are wrong for mirabilis.

Lily Langtry came from Jersey, hence the nickname the Jersey Lily, but the Prince of Wales met her in London. The flower symbol of Jersey is called a lily, but apparently it is actually an amaryllis

This is Lily Langtry in a portrait by Millais, titled 'A Jersey Lily':

All of this has nothing to do with the pretty brooch, just another one of those forum meanders.:D

The joke of course is that Ms Langtry was a mistress of the Prince of Wales. (and all of this is coming from an American and a Dutchwoman. Go figure.)

Mrs Langtry.;) There was a mr Langtry once, and Lilly's maiden name was Le Breton.
