This and some other things seemed to have gone nowhere on the finds thread and so I try here. :)
Thank you for the response on the Wiss flower trimmer! :)

I wonder if it held S&P shakers?

Possibly.... But it's shaped to fit eggs. :)

Have you got 2 eggs you can put in those holes for another picture? Maybe seeing actual eggs in them will make it clearer.

    Morning!

No! :) Good question and I wondered too but then the S&Ps would've had bottoms that wouldn't stand on a table though they should be put back so....

    Hi KOT,
It held egg shaped shakers. I had one in ceramic 1950s.

Did? So you were forced to return them to it?
    Is this a repro then?

    Hi,
Don't know if repro piece. Being glass it would be a new piece.

Ah! An egg holder for counter use, not an "egg cup" for eating the egg out of. Good find, Pat!

Still think it held egg shaped S & P shakers. I couldn't find one of these holding the shakers, but found several ceramic hens with the egg shaped shakers. Here is a clear glass one that the seller claims is for shakers or open salt, etc. The real eggs sitting in the hen look awkward. The cups or whatever aren't big or deep enough to be egg cups.

Thanks for all! I thought eggs right off, as I said, but wondered about S&P because of 2 spaces.
My thought was that it could be S&P because rounded bases would make you return them to the chicken so...
I didn't get a single hit on eBidet for this and didn't try Etsy.
    That big one is amazing!

Just because someone on Etsy thinks it holds eggs does not make it so. My mother had an extensive collection of novelty S&P shakers. In my research when I was selling them, I didn't see this exact model, but I am 99.9999% sure it's a holder for egg-shaped S&P shakers. No way was it for real eggs. There is a Salt Shaker Collectors Society and they really helped me with some of the more unusual ones.
