Is it pretty light? Is it cold to your cheek?
Can you do a pin test on it?

Please Lord no hot pin tests. I'd try silver polish first. Rub some on near the base with a Q tip and sniff as you're rubbing. Formaldehyde means you've got bakelite. It looks like they were mimicking amber and bakelite's good for that. It might just be good old plastic.

I don't see 'hot' in my question. ;)

Seems it is plastic and apparently well done. Started to say pumpkin for color earlier but didn't like that so now I'll offer butterscotch. :)

I'd call it a faux egg yolk amber; a real amber chunk that size and quality would have sterling on it at the least. Maybe gold.

IMO is an inexpensive decorator only, I'd have to guess the butterscotch material is molded plastic. Note that spout is nonfunctional-does not connect to interior of vessel, if I'm looking at it correctly. I'd guess was made to sell to tourists at flea markets in Turkey, but finding the exact birthplace sill be tough and not worth the time. The bright solder probably means it isn't very old. However since I've never seen another anything like it, and couldn't find one today, you'd be justified in calling it "rare."

You don't note the size, but it looks like a tea caddy to me
