Should I be proud I get it as a gift ?

I get a lot of staff from grant parents and I am interested how old are those furniture and how much are they worth ?

During the late 1970s and early 1980s, cargo loads of English furniture were being brought over and sold to Americans.

Your cabinets appear to be European.
Too bad someone decoupaged them. Hurts the resale value quite a bit.

 

The corner cabinet looks to be Dutch or Flemish rather than English, the other looks a bit Germanic.

 

But we don't know where Kris is, do we?

It is too bad about the "decoration" but might be an easy fix?

 

To Canada too....I got some of my best furniture that way !

These are truly old cabinets. I would think 18th century or early 19th. The first could have original paint or an old re-paint but it is hard to tell. The paint on the second one looks more suspect. I do think Germanic in origin. The second one gives an Italian vibe with that figure but, since it may not be original to the cabinet, I don't think we can use it for origin.

 

I don't think the decoration is at all recent. Nice old cupboards.
