French Ink (?) Drawing - signature identification

Can somebody identify the signature and has possible other info/thoughts, etc.?

 

Looks like watercolor by 1960s Paris street artist, hill of Montmartre neighborhood. If it is, knowing whose sig it is won't mean much.

 

Nice! Been there too but no $ at the time to buy such a thing.

 

The scene is Montmartre in Paris. The white domes in the background are the church of Sacre Coeur. The La Boheme cabaret still exists. Just Google La Boheme Montmartre.

You are absolutely right! I already thought that it would be Montmartre (I was a few times in Paris) but wasn't too sure about the age. Also I already considered a street artist, but then I thought it is pretty detailed for street art. But Your info has been great, it pretty much confirmed what I have guessed.

I really liked it and it would be interesting to know if street art in the 1950s/60s was already a big mass market in Paris.

Still, if someone could identify the signature, that would be great!

 

It looks to me like Weudiou, but that's no name I've ever heard.

Apparently the street is Rue Norvins.

 

Looks to me like the artist might have had training in fashion illustration, or at least an interest in it.

 

Yes, it does have that quality to it....a lot of attention was paid to the young ladies...!

 

Perhaps earlier than 60's. Definitely post Dior's "New Look," and pre-Givenchy. The placement of the ladies' feet is typical model stance of the forties and fifties. By the sixties, the Twiggy bowlegged look was "in."
