This is kind of neat. It is a painting that was done by twins. They each painted a side and then switched and painted some more. It was done by twin sisters Ruth Greenlee & Rachel McLaughlin I have done some research and I am almost positive it was done in the 70's but I can't see the date and the actual painting is at my dad's house. I thought it was kind of neat that it was done by twins. original oil 2.jpg Original Oil.jpg

Interesting. I have never heard of them. Tried to do a little research and didn't come up with much. Found that Ruth has passed and Rachel was still living as of March of last year. Found only one other work and it was not very similar. 70s seems about right based on the framing.

Yeah I think I found the same info as you. It was a painting of a mushroom and it was much smaller than this one. It didn't sell for much only $30 if I remember correctly. I saw that one of the sisters had died but I couldn't remember which. Seems like everything my parents own is from the 70's LOL!

I have been helping my dad go through some items he wants to sell. Well he wants me to list for him on ebay or whatnot. He is at a point in life that he needs the cash more than the stuff and I am just trying to help him out. In someways it is kind of sad because I grew up looking at this stuff. I hate to see him selling everything off but I know he needs the money so I understand. I just wish we were finding more worth for him in this stuff.

If you list this be sure to put OK oil fields and Industrial in the title to get the right people to see it. It wouldn't hurt to get Regionalist in the title as well if you have room for it. I don't think a lot of people search this last term but I do think it could be considered such. This should do considerably better than the mushroom.

Hello. I just ran across one of these exact paintings. Did you sell it? What did you get for it or what do you think it may be worth? I would like to sell mine. Thanks Gary.

I have just run across this painting mentioned about (oil well). Can you please put me in touch with someone or the family you mentioned so that I can obtain some type of value? I live in Austin. Thanks.

@Chad Greenlee Hi and welcome! We were just noticing that Kasper hasn't posted here in awhile and this original post was from almost two years ago. She has an auction house in Texas and is often very busy so you might try contacting her there if she doesn't show up here.

I think komokwa was just trying to help keep you from being "exposed" internet wise to spamming or any other mischief. :) Comments on this site often show up in google searches.

Kasper is really nice and whenever she shows up again I'm sure she'll be interested in hearing about your story.

I just purchased a painting that was done by Rachel and Ruth in 1975. I live in Georgia near Savannah. I would love to track its path from OK to here. I bought it with the intent of resell, but am becoming more fond of it the more it “lives” with me.
