Antique/Vintage antique fab francaise Silver or silverplated Container mod department made in france

    Storage find.I've had this item for years.I'm not sure what it is,so I just said container.antique fab francaise silver or silverplated container mod department made in france.Any idea what this is or what the words on bottom mean.Measure 12"x4 1/2" SAM_9480.JPG SAM_9481.JPG SAM_9483.JPG SAM_9484.JPG SAM_9486.JPG

    Think the Dep would be for deposee, registered, not for department. The style or model is registered.

    Hard to explain the words when the picture is so small. But what I can say is that the marks are not for silver or silverplate in France.

    I wonder if that's METAL with a badly worn off L. I've seen things marked METAL.

    Don't think so in this case. Encased on oval; no place for an "L" to go.

    I've got a Meridian or Derby Silver Plate Wine Bottle Carrier,but it's hinged so that you can place a wine bottle inside it's velvet lined interior.It's chased & engraved in the Eastlake/Aesthetic Style.I'll post pics later.
    Mines different but has almost the same shape/profile .

    Maybe if you've had it for years you could have spent 5 minutes cleaning it

    I never clean an older silver,silverplate,pewter,ect,when I want to sell it.

    So Fab Francaise, is just short for made in France, in French.

    so you sell blackened silver and the buyer just hopes it isn't completely scratched

    Whoa...... before they have bought it.......or after ?

    Do you have buyers who think you will polish up their win , before you send it out ??

    Do you post that option???
