    It's fairly small, 4.7mm x 5.4mm.

Is this considered 4 layer or 7 layer? What material is it made out of (it's cool to the touch but feels more like rock or clay)? Do the bubble bursts detract from the value? Does it look older or more like a modern duplication (it looks kind of older to me, but wdik)?

Any input would be helpful. Thanks as always!

    Yup. Glass.

Do a search on 'murano chevron beads' ;)
Date back to the 16th century. In those times and later they ended up worldwide as these belonged to the original trade beads (search that to;)).

Yours looks old to me from picture.

    I love these :D

Ask Jamey Allen the Bead Man on Facebook. He is an expert on these type of beads. There are old ones but also plenty of modern replicas out there.

Gonna throw this one in here as well. I'm wondering if this is a chevron bead too. Google image isn't helping me. Thanks.
Yeah, I just started back about three months ago after taking a year or so off. Man, the first month the sales were rolling in good for me (considering I don't have a huge inventory), and now they are dead as a doornail.

My man, komo, coming through when there's not even a picture! LOLOL.

To anyone else wondering, I deleted the picture (and I thought the post as well), but I guess at least one person saw it before deleting.

Thanks all. Makes sense that it would be glass with the way it's layered. I have this group of assorted beads that I've been trying to identify the last few days, each one is completely different, and I think my brain is getting fried!

Thanks KSW! I know there's lots of newer ones out there, so this is just what I was looking for, someone who can give me an idea of age. I have a Dzi like he has in his facebook profile background though mine is way newer looking.

Yeah, seriously. I am putting together an auction of odds and ends beads, mostly (somewhat) older millefiori, and I don't want to just throw this in there without knowing what it might be worth. Given the amount of the newer chevron beads on ebay, my collection lot may get drowned in the sea of them.

    He replied very quickly!

    Recent Indian bead.

He said that it's the most "misrepresented" bead that he comes across, and the way to tell is by examining the cane patterns—Indian technology is totally different from Venetian practices.

credit for that sentence goes to The Beadman

He seems very knowledgeable about this type of bead. Sorry it wasn’t better news!
