Well, I've been MIA for some time because my father has been in failing health for some time and he passed away on Saturday. I'm sad because he's gone now, but glad that he had a peaceful passing with myself, mother and my daughter at his side.

Anyway, he wasn't a collector of anything, but when I went looking for the necessary documents, I found an envelope with 14 Canadian one dollar bills. We haven't used those for many years since the advent of the loonie coin. I have no idea of classification, but they don't look circulated, ie, they're not dog-eared, creased or folded.

Any way, DH says I found $14.00 CDN. Is he right?

Thanks, Terry. I think my bills are pretty high grade, but I don't have the serial number prefixes noted.

A picture would enable some sort of an answer. If they were earlyish QEII notes he may have saved the 'Devil's Head' variety of the dollar.

    Hi Wendy,
    Sorry about your Dad.

They might be miscut, printing errors, consecutive serial numbers.
You will have to show pics.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Ten years on, I still miss my Dad.

I'd keep them tucked away until I could do some more research. Maybe it was something he put away for a particular purchase and never got around to making.

I have nothing useful to say about the money, but want to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss, Wendy. :(

Many thanks for your condolences. He was a great Dad. As I said, he was a collector of nothing, but we used to give him coins from the Canadian mint, and some silver bits. He seemed to like money, LOL! I think he may have had some vague idea that the bills might be worth more than face value at some point, but he wouldn't have known about any Devil's Head. I will post pix when I re-figure out how to resize my photos...I sometimes don't like my iPad. How difficult would it have been to include a resize feature in the photo edit?

I'm so sorry, Wendy, for your loss and glad he had a peaceful passing. I lost my dad when I was 20, and he still holds a tender place in my heart and is missed.

I sold one of the Canadian "Devil's Head" bills on eBay years ago. If it hadn't had a note with it saying what it was, I never would have known.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wendy, I'm very sorry to hear about your father's passing. It is not easy to lose a parent, no matter what age they (or we) are. I'm glad that you were able to be with him at the end. My father died about 7 years ago, and I am very glad that I was there.

Take care of yourself, and continue to cherish your family ...

    Wendy,

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. It is a heart breaking thing to loose a parent - but it is a glorious thing to revel in the memories and thus keep a person eternal.

You have my deepest sympathy, and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you all. I am fortunate to still have Mom, and also fortunate to have both parents for so long.

Af, I will figure it out eventually!
