  4. Thank you :) That does sound about right considering all the collective input as an after master portrait. Great nail link btw!

    it seems to me that as the tally mounts.....a wealth of your stock was collected as newly made items....!
    leading me to wonder if the collector was known to the artists... ( artist..), or maybe even commissioned the works himself ???

    curiouser ...& curiouser......:wideyed::wideyed:

    @Shadowwolf1117 ...... are there any other family members who are involved in your quest, and / or , are there any who can provide more of an insight as to how this collection came to be....??

    &. here's one that was bugging me......why had no one else found or unveiled these works.....say....in the 60's or 70's..?

    just me thinking out loud...........so only answer if u feel like it.....;):happy:

  7. No everyone has pretty much passed away. These all were in a storage unit since the 50's both great granddad and grandad traveled the world and always seemed to find a painting or tapestry to bring back with them. I have paperwork as far back as 1908 itemizing most of the works, and again an appraisal dossier that was done in 1978 of many of the larger pieces of art. Nobody in the family really cared about it after great granddad and granddad passed. So now I get to do all the work and reap whatever rewards are to be had. You guys should see how many layers of dust and such is in the storage unit lol Like an Indiana Jones adventure just in a nice climate controlled container lol.

    so , who did that before u were born......and why was it all locked away again?

    u say....appraisal........... were values given for that time ?

  9. My grandfather had that done, it had an appraised value at that time of 9k hard to say what today's value would be

    So wouldn't paperwork from 1908 identify (many if not all of) these works? And wouldn't a 1978 appraisal dossier do the same?

  11. We discovered these docs 2 days ago and they are very helpful but it does nothing to identify the unsigned artist on many of the pieces. It did help tremendously with several of the pieces and gave a much more accurate age on many others.
