Don't feel bad. Maybe this is the week for mix-ups. Not sure which is worse, buying something you shouldn't have or not buying something you should have.

This week I screwed up by not buying something. Somehow the event just destroyed me. (Destruction waning... thankfully.) In the big picture really not a big deal.

Website says "retailer with replica Cartier". In my US jurisdictional spheres, it's called "infringement" and "piracy". Unbelievable on so many levels.

OMG, I passed on a piece of jewelry 30 years ago and I still remember it with a pit in my stomach.

The crap I've overpaid for? Those thoughts are gone as soon as the piece is gone.:joyful:

If you run an IP locator on the ".cn" site, i.e., China, this is the location of the 'ourlovestore' store ...
upload_2019-5-31_14-38-31.png . And if you believe that, I have a bridge in London to sell you.

And if you do a little more analysis, you find they use DNS forwarding... everything is blocked that normal websites show with a modicum of investigation. And so, there is no way to track the location or origin of the site. Which is probably in a country that harbors pirates with technical savvy. Hence, they stay up.

And Cartier is for sure, I will wager the replica value your find, desperately trying to shut them down.

There are hundreds of proxy servers in the U.S. and even a teenager can find and use them.

That sucks dude, but I'm always impressed with your gumption to take a chance

I'm sure these thrift / charity shops know a lot more than their letting on nowadays

Should'a never tipped off yer clerk that way!
In China, as in NUMEROUS foreign countries, making "fakes" has been a livelihood for centuries and they see nothing wrong with doing this. Thanks for your input about this, @Dawnno , much appreciated.

E607AD9A-85C0-4999-BDB0-289E2C664D23.jpeg Always late but wearing it in rose. Back of the screw is screamingly wrong. Can’t see stamping on mine but screw is enough for me to make a call. Stamping looks weird and bracelet looks thick proportionally.

BTW testing it means nothing. There are tons of high grade counterfeits in white, yellow and rose gold. Even the diamond ones are faked in gold and stones.

Cartier is one of those labels that must be authenticated but don’t take yours to Cartier. I don’t know their policy but IMO they’d be correct to confiscate it.

You can’t list fakes on ebay even with disclosure. It is illegal and you could destroy your account.

Go find out the metal content and (although I doubt it) if yours is gold you scored in melt. I guess stranger things have happened.

The seller (journey’s link) has sold 9 and has 9 left. Surely they know these are fakes, considering the price. I wonder why they are not reported?

Because no one with any eBay standing has reported them!

Wouldn't you be able to take it back ?, I certainly would try if I paid a fair amount for something that was pretty much illegal to sell

    You mean the thrift store?

The ebay listing sell for >$50

I'm sure the buyer knows exactly what they're buying...

Yeah, I know charity shops over here accept returns, some of them will only give you store credit though

If they were selling it at $99 that's more than you would pay for a knock off brand new

    It's sounds deceiving to me

I'm pretty sure @journeymagazine could burn through a $99 credit in no time :)

Some thrifts and even a consignment store locally will sell fakes if they look good. I give those items a wide berth; they're still fake.

Been wearing mine (18k yellow gold) for some 30+ years. I'm not about to take it off to weigh it or show the markings! Please excuse the "old lady" hands:
