  1. Kasperscuriosities

Kasperscuriosities Two hundred years too late.

So we have been working on pulling items out of this 40' trailer. It was packed to the brim when we started and we have made our way back quite a bit. Here are a few pictures of what I am dealing with. I realize it looks like a disaster cause well yeah it is. We are suppose to have access to a fork lift on Thursday there are several big crates in the back that we are going to have to use a fork lift and a pallet jack to pull off. Everything is extremely dusty but appears to be in good shape. The trailer is water tight so no water damage or anything. No bugs nothing too bad just a lot of dust. It has been killing my allergies when we work out there. It doesn't look too bad in these pictures but this is after removing enough items that we kind of made a walkway through the trailer.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what style these wardrobes are? There is a much larger one in the back that we haven't been able to get to yet. It has double doors that have been removed. It is in good shape but we have to remount the doors. I guess they took the doors off to protect them while in storage. I don't know. There is a lot of I don't know going on in this trailer. :)

The popcorn machine is pretty neat. I did research it and it is from the 40's. It needs to be restored but all the pieces are there. It might even work I don't know but it definitely needs some TLC to be brought back to it's original beauty. The top part lights up. It is really really dirty. We will be cleaning every thing off good once we get it unloaded that may actually help it in the looks department a lot.

The one weird little desk is a jewelers/watchmakers work bench. There is a second one too and a whole cabinet full of watch crystals and jewelry pieces and parts and tools for making jewelry and fixing watches. Lots of gold nuggets. Who knows how much gold is in that thing alone.

So it looks like a mess but believe me we have come a long way since day 1.

    I like finding gold

I bought the wrong box lot at auction for $20

Nothing I wanted in the box

Found these bits in the bottom of the box

    About $25 worth

Yep there is a ton of that kind of stuff in these drawers. Well maybe not a ton but definitely a lot of it. It's just kind of everywhere and it is straight up legit gold. I could probably pull a good handful of pieces like you have there. I can't imagine just having gold like that just laying around in storage for 20 years. LOL! Crazy.

I think kasper is living in an episode of American Pickers. ;)

Wardrobe looks early 20th to me.

Your wardrobes are likely English. The first one is circa 1930. The second one is a bit older but still likely 20th century. The lack of top detail on the second one makes me think something is missing or the entire top has been replaced. The simple top on the first one is more consistent with the style there so not a problem. They might both be entirely right but the raised panels on the one hint toward an earlier style that would usually have a top cornice or other detail.

Might have had a broken pediment. I wonder if someone adapted it to become a built in one.

"here is a second one too and a whole cabinet full of watch crystals and jewelry pieces and parts and tools for making jewelry and fixing watches." great items for online auction vs onsite.

That's a good point I am sure there will be things we end up putting in my online auctions from here. Right now it is jut a matter of getting it all sorted and figured out.

I'd agree with putting those on line. That way you'll get the steampunks, the watch guys, and the crafters all going after it. Pieces with more than one audience sometimes go nuts. Or so we dream, anyway..... The wardrobes may need an upcycler to take them in hand, especially if they're damaged.

The wardrobes are all in good shape everything is just covered in dust. About to leave to go back out today. I am hoping we actually get those crates pulled off today and can see what is in them. I know one of them is a collection of law books but that is about all I know. I am not looking forward to climbing in and out of that trailer again today but at least we got smart enough to get a ladder out there so that makes it a little easier. This an 18 Wheeler trailer so it isn't the easiest thing to climb in and out of. This job would be so much easier if we had a dock to back it up too and unload it. At least we will be blessed with a fork lift today and I think with the pallet jack and forklift we will be able to clear it out okay. Although I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned. I am not made for this. There is a marble tub in there that weighs a ton. It is on a pallet but still. I am a little scared. It is such a random mess. I hope that the next time I have a job this big I also have the funds to hire some good help. LOL! I am really good at supervising. LOL! I will definitely let you guys know if I find anything good today.

I think the forklift is an antique. We have accomplished nothing. rps20150618_102101.jpg

No it's not. This was loaded at a dock with a real forklift. We borrowed this from some cabinet makers who are on site. All we have left now is the three big crates. I am so beat.
