    Hi guys

    Was just trying to learn more about this old needlework box? Any idea of its age? It’s a lovely box, plenty of character. It appears to have had a couple of minor repairs along the way, just have no clue as to what period this originates and if possible an estimate of its value.

    Many thanks 8889082D-C3BD-4135-BDD2-FC794855D556.jpeg C8C739C7-9ED1-4122-9CE9-7816B81B64D4.jpeg B5C01A92-9242-4E33-83D2-46DC2AAD19DD.jpeg 15346BB6-5F10-485A-B63A-4F0BD9E9F17F.jpeg 782D648E-4931-47FA-A9DD-68D73FF99918.jpeg 3D199EA6-63F2-4C63-8724-8D078F74150F.jpeg B147F1DC-F53F-4AB0-9333-E0D029BF2D86.jpeg 782D648E-4931-47FA-A9DD-68D73FF99918.jpeg 3D199EA6-63F2-4C63-8724-8D078F74150F.jpeg B147F1DC-F53F-4AB0-9333-E0D029BF2D86.jpeg 4E87F997-5985-42D9-B0AD-13E36211796A.jpeg 178CEC3F-9B4D-41DD-808C-C2F777512FFD.jpeg

    Gorgeous box, it looks 19th century to me. Looks like it is missing a bone escutcheon for the keyhole, flower shaped?

    @Poisonivy will like this.

    Yeah it is missing something that should lay around the keyhole shame....agreed though it’s a nice box

    The interior sections look more like for jewelry than needlework implements. Very nice box, though!

    Nothing major, it can be replaced. If you are good at crafts you can do it yourself.

    With those lids I usually think needlework. Whatever it is, it is beautiful.

    Must be a regional thing - when I saw the lids, I immediately thought of Dad's organizer for cuff links, tie-tacks, etc.

    My dad had a separate box for those. I still have it somewhere.:)

    I think it would have been perfect for both ;) With this particular box it was definately used for needlework - there was some odds and sods left in the box, needles, buttons etc

    Oh my gosh. You people on this sight are amazing. All I thought of when I saw the lid was Game Box. Ha ha.

    Well I purchased to resell but don’t have any idea what a fair asking price would be. Prices for 19th century (especially Georgian) vary so much....

    Hey! Yes so it would seem. Prices are pretty vast though....maybe It will help me price it more appropriately if I’m able to establish some more specific details of the box I have....maybe someone will be able to offer some additional details....looking good though ;)

    It is a work box or sewing box, I would say late Victorian, I suspect the interior has been relined at some point and it would have had a quilted interior in the lid with a strip for sewing tools.
    It could be made nice again with a sympathetic restoration :)
