Vintage, retired, Pandora charms. Current market?

Is there a strong market for retired Pandora charms?

Yes, if they are genuine they sell well. The tricky bit is to identify to correct key words for each bead to name and describe them correctly as some collectors will search by the type name.

 

My SIL, does not currently know of a secondary market where retired charms hold a high value.

that said, there may be ones that are still in demand !

They certainly sell well. I'm bemused by the things: mass made, designs aren't exciting and a scrap of silver.

 

I agree that they definitely have a resale market. Must be the real deal as KSW said. There are similar inexpensive non sterling look-alike beads out there without the Pandora stamp, so critical that they all have some kind of mark. (No idea if there are fakes with marks. Anyone know??) If I found those bracelets at a reasonable price (say, less than $30 per bracelet...) I'd take a chance and get them. I'm sure other people would spend more.

My strategy would be to sell as a lot in a 10 day auction setting, since I doubt I'd have the energy to look each up, but if you have time, that would probably get a higher result. Many are unsold at $10 per bead on Ebay, but maybe several in a single auction with one shipping price would catch a few buyer's eyes, and do pretty well. And hopefully if one was particularly sought after, the obsessive Pandora buyers would catch it. Guessing that older Pandora beads have more value so if you have any specific information about the age of the bracelets, could be helpful.

I agree -- It was a bit of savvy marketing that started this whole business. Also allowed for "collections to build" without taking up much space, etc. I think the market has softened however. Not such a novelty any more, but definitely still buyers for them. I remember ten years ago getting a Pandora bracelet full of charms at my local SAVERS (OMG... painful to think about... that store is now a Whole Foods. ). Anyway paid $2.99 or whatever and the bracelet loaded with charms sold for $250 on Ebay.

 

Yes there are but usually pretty easy to spot as the Pandora name is very poorly stamped.

I have been checking the sold listings on eBay and found bracelets with 6, 9, 12, 15, 21, etc. charms selling for ~ $6.50 - $10.00 per charm. It appears the larger the charm count, the lower the charm price average whether the charm is retired or not, however, there may be some minor price anomalys.
Individual charms seem to fair better claiming a price point average from $10.00 - $25.00.
Selling charms with a bracelet beggars a higher asking price and, perhaps a longer wait for a sale. Individual charm sales may be more frequent and a higher ask seems the way to sell, yet this method requires more time to create item data and some unsold inventory may be taking a long vacation relaxing on your shelf.
To bracelet or not to bracelet is the question or maybe I should sell the charms in lots of 5 and sell the two bracelets and necklace as a lot?

Also check carefully in case any are white gold or gold and silver as they go for really good money.

I don't know how many there are (sorry if you mentioned it above), but in a case like this, I pick out the highest value ones to sell separately and then group the rest to sell. I guess it all depends on how long you want to wait for a buyer. If you don't care, you could sell them individually. I personally like to turn things over pretty quickly, so I don't mind if I don't maximize my profit by the above strategy.

Good luck. I know there is a problem out there with a lot of fake pandora charms, and while I know yours are real, there may be the sneaky customer or two out there that yells "fake" and asks for a refund without return or a partial refund.
