I was wondering if any of you knew anything about this little knife. It has brass wings and plastic. There are no names or any other markings that I see. It is 4 1/4 inches with the blade out and closed it is 3 3/4inches.

Try United Cutlery, Frost and maybe BADA companies but I suspect it could be hand made SW USA or S America.

It is handmade I was looking at it again and think it might be horn not plastic I will put it in a baggie later and run it under some hot water to see if I can smell anything like celluloid

That's wow! I think you should repost in the Tribal Art category so Taupou will find it.

    Hi,
Try using road runner instead of woodpecker. Looks like markings from Zuni. Most likely horn instead of plastic. Very pretty little knife.

Boy Johnett, that sure looks like a cousin to my husbands bottle opener - which is marked S & A Haddad Stainless. The opener was from the S&A Haddad Jessin cutlery Company, Lebanon

    Hi,
The bottle opener was black plain Bakelite which was done over by a skilled craftsman doing stuff to sell to the tourists up until the 60s/70s. JMHO

That is a very interesting little knife. Is the blade really just 1/2" long? It looks longer in your knife-fully-open photo. ;)

They're a real company, Greg ... their name is stamped right on the bottle opener (which is horn, I believe ... I can smell Bakelite from a mile away)
    Here's a link to their site http://haddadcutlery.com/catalogs.php

What I wonder is if someone made the cute little jack-knife out of a handle of a piece of cutlery or if it was from the same company and was something they sold at one time ... or maybe this is a traditional Lebanese design that many companies crafted.

    Sorry I hit 3 3/4 instead of 2 3/4 with blade closed

Just ran under hot water no smell. Looked under a loop and it looks like horn with a little bone on the back part. Wonder if on the back of it would be silver?

I posted a link to this thread for Taupou. If I remember right IF it is Zuni I can not sell it as such on ebay since it isnt marked right?

My dad had a little dagger that looked exactly like this he picked up in the 50s in the middle east. I always thought he said Turkey ,but he was in Syria and Lebanon as well. Its certainly not Zuni.

There is a similar pocket knife that sold on eBay ... I do not know if I am allowed to link to an eBay listing that isn't mine, but here's the item # 311349088648 ... or you could search for the keyword string " ODD ANTIQUE LEBANON FIGURAL PEACOCK BIRD KNIFE "
