Oh....and the basket, while I can't place it, is a really nice example of a working basket.....in nice shape too !

Bear...Years ago a friend scored an unopened box of those lighters. 20 I think. I bought 5 off of him at ten bucks a throw. Sold 'em all, one at a time between 50 and 65 the piece. OB sold 'em (original box.) This mighta been late 80s'...long time ago. Always thought it was a cool piece.

komokwa, the wood is actually metal and yes, it's in lovely nick, as we say. If yu google on Ianthe ashtrays, they did assorted different ones.

The basket is a nice good quality log basket - no particular make, but they sell REALLY well at auctions here.

Don, that was a heck of a score for those lighters. I paid about seven dollars for mine, it ought to make a bit more than that. With lead and tripod and unopened, not surprised you did well!

The Belgique (Belgium) handkerchief is a souvenir post-WWII. My mother and aunts got similar from my uncles when they returned. Since I visit Belgium a lot, I really like it!

Bev, I like the weight too. I suspect this one may be a stopper rather than a doorknob. From the base, it was done a LONG time ago, anyhow.

    Hi,
Bev I agree with you but is it a door knob or top from a decanter sunk into the wood?

Looks like an Emtek doorknob to me but you could be right. What I thought was a rosette now looks like the shoulder of a decanter top

It's that sort of wood effect enamelled metal. Not a scratch on it, either.

Bev, thank you. Do you happen to know if the scene painted on it is a "special" scene (a "named" view) in Belgium and if the church has any specific significance.

I also was thinking of a tie-in with WWII. It would be in keeping with the age of some of the other items (including various military objects) in the house where the estate sale was being held.

Oh, and I forgot that I also bought a lovely old needlepoint pillow. There were quite a few needlepoint pillows and other needlepoint projects in the house as well as lots of needlepoint (yarn) supplies.

Thanks, I Thought so too komokwa.

I just can't find any other examples of a case like that online. If anybody else has some info - was it made specifically for the Camco or for any camera, etc. It would be appreciated!

I thought it looked like an Emtek
It's a fairly generic image on the hankie. With the big trees, it looks like it must be around the Ardennes.

Terry, that looks like butterfly wing. If it is, then 1920s or 30s.
