Nice ewer, but how about the rest of my question? Where is it? Where did you get it? A purchase, a gift, an inheritance? How long ago? You were told nothing at all about it when it came into your possession?

    Please help us help you.

I can say a few things - this does not appear to be a mark of fineness (the percentage of silver in the alloy of which the item was made) or of a particular maker. It resembles a German "city" mark, but I do not see a specific matching one on the list I looked at. Are there absolutely no other markings anywhere on this item? Have you looked it over very well?

Basically, all I did was sharpen and enlarge the mark 2X.....still don't know what it mostly looks like....one part almost looks like a key.... something in a very rough shield???

Two crossed keys, punched with a worn stamp, by the looks of it.
Same here, a lot of crossed keys, all over Europe, but the ones I see all have the extra symbol (beehive? papal tiara?) on the other end.
    Maybe a maker's mark?

That's what I was thinking. Crossed keys plus a blob. Might be some sort of German mark, but that's the best guess I've got.

Looks like a key crossed with a sword and a horned bulls head?
    Or am I seeing things?!

Good, not just me then! The first photo looks much more like a bull when it’s that way up.

I don't disagree about what that looks like. The problem is that such a combination of crossed keys in that shield-like cartouche with some kind of blob, has no meaning with respect to silver that I can find - closest would be a pre-1886 German city mark that I have been unable to find a match for. If anyone has an idea of what it has to do with silver, please speak up!

In the meantime, roee does not seems to be interested in answering the questions that have been asked that might help us help him.
