I truly enjoy treasure hunting and I can stand a lot when I enter dirty homes. I do get bothered by the heat and stinky cat pee and such.

But I can not stand someone jabbering at me.
One time a lady had a garage sale and I asked her how much for something. She told me and I guess my expression showed I was shocked. She was quite nasty too and said she can sell it for more on ebay. So I said, please do and walked away.
Some people should NOT have garage sales or yard sales.

Sometimes I find the household conditions at estate sales are just depressing...especially for a borderline-hoarder. I'm thinking "Is this what my house is going to look like when I go?"

    Hi,
I hate smelly houses also BUT I have only been in one house that I had to flee. It was in a nice neighborhood and I was hoping to find some treasure. It was rented to three recent high school graduates for five months. In those five months they NEVER cleaned anything and I mean anything. The one bathroom was so horrible that i do not know how anyone could have showered in there let alone
peed. In the kitchen was the only thing that I tried to buy. It was an EAPG pitcher that was so stuck to the counter top that it would not budge. I finally grabbed it by the bottom and gave a twist. The pitcher moved but the bottom was still welded to the counter top. I could no longer hold my breath and fled.

If the one on top is a Roman paste of the amethyst intaglio below it, & if there is no trace of a signature on the paste, it may have implications for one of the treasures of the Bibliotheque nationale de France.

Got this 14k white gold and diamond bar pin for $2.99 today, not supposed to find anything on Monday, no merchandise comes out, how this made it through the weekend without getting noticed boggles me.

Anund ... wheeee! I love those filigree items, but even finding the costume ones is a rarity.

@gregsglass - that house sounds worse than even the hoarder houses I've been through. The sale I was in on Friday smelled like stale cigarette smoke, but it wasn't too horrible. A college kid uncleaned bathroom would have had me running for the door.

My son, aged 14, once accompanied me to a hoarders house. It was disgusting. The kitchen had old uneaten food and rubbish piled high as they were too lazy to put it out. He was very very silent throughout the whole ordeal. I was not buying anything, trying to help her. When we got home, he retired to his bedroom. I could hear him banging about. An hour later, black binsacks of I don't know what, were brought out and discarded. The shock of the hoarders house made him completely clear and tidy his bedroom. RESULT!!!

I cheerfully admit to hoarding fabric and jewelry, but draw the line at paper and old food. Eyyyyyuch.

I would if I could! Even the test the alleged neurologist did on me today was pushing it though, so I only have the one.(sigh)

3 glass terrier head buttons, there’s another broken one which I will glue. Bought with a bunch of sewing bits in a kid leather drawstring bag for £2.

Some stuff from today and a dolphin from a while ago. Silver necklace, hallmarked 925 left and right, and a silver pin made from buttons with no marks whatever. Silver and ...dunno ... artisan pendant, silver and peridot ring (currently on my finger), Trifari earrings with original hang tag, and a bitty kitty box with a copyright date of 1974. Just the lid is showing. DSCF1585.JPG

I am old enough to remember buttons like that on clothes in the 50's.
