Yes, it is 1800s, so 19th century, and as the seller says, German made. The inlay is probably bogwood, from a moor. Imo late 19th century.
It is a pectoral crucifix, which means that it was worn. This type was worn by a member of the clergy. I have seen them described as army chaplain crosses.

It didn't look that old from here; I've seen similar ones that were definitely post-WWII. They have wood in them too. It's the right size to wear, but I'd be thinking it was a piece of a wall rosary. But then this heathen Baptist/Protestant knows more about Judaica than Catholic regalia.

Yup. This one is an oldy. 18th and could even be 17th century.
I recently had one in my hands but that was clearly 20th century.
They look the same at first, but there are clear differences to determine. It's in the details.

I also met many of them during World War 2. But they could have been made much earlier.

Nah. These are truely made from the 17th century up to about 1900. It's in certain details to date these more exact. Late or early in this time.
Off course on could wear an oldie during WWI or WWII. But...

The ones made after about 1900 look simular, but are more easy to recognize. The wood doesn't reach the ends. :)

This is a 20th century made one... th-3848269422.jpg

He is probably not very old. It is in almost perfect condition. This is also an argument.

This one for sure is 18th up to early 19th century at most.
To nice or shiny ain't a good argument. It can be kept economical and air (ammonia!) lacking. The brass (not gold) can be cleaned. That's all unknown and speculative.
The specific and known details (-s as in more) are clear and undoubtable.
    This is an oldie.

This is part of a 14/15th century brass buckle ... shining as gold. As it was preserved without air and amonia. Confirmed and officially registered by the archeological service.
Ask an archeolog what copper/brass with water patine is and why ;)

There was a patina. I have already cleaned the brass a little so that all the details can be seen better.

Purpose not answered yet, so now..
Rosary crusifix and hanging in traveling shrine. Bigger ones sometimes as coffin crucifix.

Btw. I had an exact simular one in my hands some weeks ago. Sadly that one was undoubtatly a later 19th century, and to pricy for such 'young' one.
I wished it was a beautifull oldie as yours, as then i would have bought it for sure. Congrats with this super crusifix you own! I love these.

I smartly say no more ;)

PS: 125? I wouldn't even pay it for an oldy. But who am i.
