    Hi everybody,
    I just made an account and it said I should write here first.
    I restore antiques with my father and saw this website while looking up a 1937 chair I got for $5.
    I work on phonographs, clocks, Wood working restoration, dabbled in metal work, and a few other things.
    Also am restoring a set of sedans with one being an identical make of the 1930 Sedan from the movie Indiana jones and the temple of doom.
    Thanks for reading my message and I look forward to talking with you guy as time goes on.
    Edit: Also have been in an episode of The antiques roadshow. You can hear my father smash a plate in the background by accident.

    I have a few before and an after pictures (don’t want to clog up this thread with them) of a VV-210 phonograph that was literally just a shell without anything on the inside. Had to get all the correct parts (motor, doors, record separator and strip off 2 coats of paint off the entire case.
    Always enjoy a good conversation and a nice piece of furniture without shabby chic. Natural wood is art in and of itself.

    The radio in the picture is one of 91 made in 1924 and was sold to the public right before the first public radio station was sent out. It was apparently a political debate that was aired to the few that had the ability to listen in. You would have to dial in all 3 knobs to get the station you wanted. It has been restored and you can pick up music as long as your not near any interference and the weather is good.

    We had a chipped haviland Limoges plate and it fell.
    It was the reject plate of the service for 20 set.
    It is part of the Alabama episode. You can hear it in the background if you listen for it.

    Take the roadshow with a big grain of salt. They know very little about the things they are appraising in this day and age. I took a set of the haviland Limoges 39D pattern and the guy could not tell me anymore then what I told him. That was even with a pause and a few minutes after I told him what I had.
    He replied with “ This is grandma China. You will never eat off it. You will keep it in your display cabinet and it will one day get broken when you move houses. Every piece is only worth $3 each.”
    When I see small pieces go for $25 each all day online...
    and a lot of others doing the same thing as this guy.
    Brought two Fashion Calendar clocks to the next table. The guy says “ their worth what you paid for them” and AFTER saying that, he asked me how much I paid for them.
    Quite a long time ago though my dad brought a painting of an old Italian man and it was retailed at $85k
    Stuck it back on the same wall it was on when it was put up as a $5 painting.
    Not a bunch of bright people at this point Not worth the tickets.
