Hey y’all! So this one isn’t a mystery in terms of who the artist is; the lithograph came with PLENTY of provenance. I guess my question as a plebe is: given the documentation it came with explaining every aspect of the piece, is it worth anything? The artist isn’t super famous, but he does run shows at galleries in Alaska and has a cool backstory. Does knowing every aspect of the litho help at all value wise?

Oh dang! Even over priced that’s good news... my wife kinda sorta bought out an entire estate sale for 650 bucks (lady was a former antique dealer and we have SO MUCH STUFF) so that litho alone could make up a big chunk of that even if it’s a fifth of that value. Thanks again!

Also, kind of a follow up question... is there a good site to sell art aside from eBay or Etsy? We’ve had really limited luck with those venues.

Good question... I'd like to know as well.

I've seen lots of auctions for artwork online but don't know what's involved to have one's pieces included. I also don't know the logistics for photography, shipping, etc.

Great question, I as well have had limited luck on ebay. I have a pretty large inventory of limited edition signed numbered stuff that just will not move on ebay.

I don't know about selling art online, but I would resist trying it with anything framed with glass. Shipping could be a nightmare :wideyed:

I've shipped a few small frames with glass, both with art and without where I was just selling the frame, and didn't have a problem. But shipping large frames with glass would make me very nervous.

Yeah... it’s part of the issue we’ve hit with the art. Out of curiosity, does it damage the value of a lithograph to remove it from the frame for shipping?

Thanks, I do too! He does really cool work and as a mountain man I’m a sucker for Alaskan artists.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

not if the art is good......if so it's always better than the frame.

but there are times when taking away the frame after selling it with the frame will cause a client to say..." Hey...your price included a frame !! "
    & that's not good....
    so....
    1. sell the art, matted....& keep the frame for your kids pictures..
    2. replace the glass with plexi-glass....it's lighter...& mostly won't shatter.
    3. inform the buyer....you'll pull the glass from the frame.....before shipping...but ship it in the wood frame.

    IMHO....
