Is it possible to tell where and when this was made?

This was left to me about 10 years ago when my great-grandmother passed away. It's always reminded me of Christmas so I only wear it this time of year but I just realised that it's real gold (stamped 375) and I wondered if there is a way to tell how old it is and where it came from. The stamp is marked GONS.
My GG was born and died in Tasmania Australia, as were her family, so I assume it's from here but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if it's modern or older.

Looks like GDNS or GDWS to me. I can see something else too but that chain piece may be not who made the pendant anyway. It’s good to show the back of the pendant too with any marks and click full size image when posting to make it easier for people to see. Thanks

    Welcome @Bronte .
I lived in Australia in the early 70s and saw similar jewellery there at the time, and it was locally made, so in Australia.
That doesn't necessarily mean yours was, but it is very likely.

GDNS - I'd bet the chain itself was made in Italy and shipped to Australia. Most with that losenge-thingie are Italian. The pendant..dunno.
